The Great Chocoplot
Chris Callaghan
It's the end of chocolate - for good! At least, that's what they're saying on TV. Eleven-year-old Jelly is horrified, but a trail of clues leads to a posh chocolate shop and its suspicious owner, the dastardly Garibaldi Chocolati. Is it really the chocopocalypse, or is there a chocoplot afoot?

I liked this book because Jelly was really brave and she was extremely determined to save Chompton from running out of chocolate. Garibaldi Chocolati was trying to steel chocolate

Everyone in Compton likes chocolate but it doesn't mean we have to be selfish and steal all of the chocolate around the world by telling lies. Chocolate can sometimes mean to spread all around

This book made me sooo hungry when I read it, and I loved how it was a funny mystery, so this was perfect for me. I loved how the baddie is not who you think it is, but what they're up to is even trickier to guess. But throughout the book, eventually, you can try and start solving the mystery with the characters too! This was very fun.

My favourite character was jelly because she really wanted chocolate to not go away. If it was factual I would like it because it would talk about the history of chocolate. I would recommend it to my friends and my class because they like chocolate.

It was very funny and gross all at the same time. Jelly became famous for her experiment on the chocopocalypse. She and her Gran stopped Mr Chocalarti and doggy dave from taking all the chocolate.

This story is a fiction story about a courageous and adventurous young girl who saves chocolate from disappearing forever. Jelly was my favourite character she was brave, resilient and never gave up until chocolate continues to be produced. For people that like mystery books this is their type of book.

Then the chocolate for good or chocolate mystery at least that’s what they’re saying on TV jelly and her Gran grub smacked they love a box of chocolate but then the Trail of close lead back to a posh chocolate shop in town owned by the distantly better whether it is really a chocolate

Very entertaining book with lovable characters such as Jelly and her Gran and an entertaining villain, Garibaldi Chocolati. I think children will be hooked by the thought of there ever being an end of chocolate 🍫😱. The end section of the book is so entertaining with lots of funny events happening that I'm sure will have children roaring with laughter.

I really like The Great Chocoplot and know that it will link fantastically to my Chocolate unit in Year 3/4. The story was fast paced and exciting. Even if the idea of a chocpocalypse does terrify me! My favourite character was Granny in her Granavan because she’s very funny, empathetic and relatable. I would highly recommend this book to all chocolate lovers and LKS2 teachers.
