After crashing hundreds of miles from civilisation in the Amazon rainforest, Fred, Con, Lila and Max are utterly alone and in grave danger. They have no food, no water and no chance of being rescued. But they are alive and they have hope. As they negotiate the wild jungle they begin to find signs that something - someone - has been there before them. Could there possibly be a way out after all?

A brilliant read with wonderful description. I also loved the formal tone of the explorer compared to the informal tone of some of the children!

I liked that the book was all about adventure. It was set in the Amazon rainforest. I liked Baca the sloth because he was a sloth named after the Portugeuse word for pineapple. I would recommend it to people who like rainforest stories and surviving in the wild.

I liked this book. My favourite character was Lila as she always takes care of her brother. It interested me because a explorer is a person who discover things. I would recommend it to someone.

I am lost for words. Incredible , Exceptional, There are so many ways I could describe this book. When Fred, Lila , Max , and , Con become the survivers of a plane crash in the amazon rainforest they become intwined with a fight for survival - but someone is already there.... honestly so brilliant! I could not put it down! The hardcore version of Journey to the river sea. written very open ended leaves a lot of scope for imagination but it has enough information that leaves the reader satisfied and content yet still hungry for more! I will treasure the journey I took with this book forever more.

I do enjoy the book and it’s quite interesting and different from normal books it’s also very ambitious and makes me feel like a real explorer

It is a good book but the thing is that it’s like got a bunch of different types of stories in one. But uther then that it was a really good book. This book is a nonfiction book so it’s a made up story. I recommend this book to someone who likes a lot of interesting stories and mystery’s. But other then that it’s a pretty good book.

I think this book was very impressive mainly because it is all about survival and life in the Amazon Rainforest. It is also has some actual facts about the Amazon Rainforest . I also think that the book is really exciting and tensing because it is a 50% 50% of survival.

I really enjoyed the explorer because it was exciting and it it showed a load of different survival skills. It was fiction and showed us a variety of different characters with different emotions. My favourite character was Fred because he was brave and did some of the cool survival skills.

I would strongly recommend this book to anyone who loves adventure. The story is about four kids (Fred, Lila, Con and Max) who's plane crashes in the Amazon Jungle. They build a strong friendship and try and make it back to Manaus, where they were originally supposed to land. Will they make it? Are they going to survive? And who will they meet along the way?

I loved this book because the suspense of how to survive in the Amazon jungle was so tense I couldn’t put this book down. It was so hard to choose a favorite character because each child had a different personality. Max was a hyperactive five year old. Lila was a sensible girl who was always quite cautious. Con was a girl who literally didn’t want to be there but she soon change her mind when being given the chance to go home. And Fred the oldest of the kids was always like the leader. But I also loved the Explorer because he was so elusive and was always there to help them and in the end saved someone’s life. I would recommend it to anyone aged 11-17 because it has a couple of scary but tense bits while trying to survive in the wilderness. Best book I have read in a long time. Which is why I rate it 5/5

I loved the book as it was an adventure type as I LOVE adventure books. It also reminds us to be thankful for what we have, as Fred, Con, Lila and Max (the main characters in the book) had no food and had to survive on grubs, spiders, berries, pineapples and honey. 10/10 for me! ;D
