Aarti has lived on the island with Aunt for as long as she can remember. Her only comforts are a book of Indian myths, a fox's friendship, and a toy rabbit she finds in a locked room. Then, she learns Aunt has been feeding her lies. Fate intervenes when a half-drowned boy washes up nearby. With his help, can Aarti remember who she really is?

It was good, but the ending was a bit unexpected. My favourite character was Aarti, because she is the main character and she had been through so much in her life and dealt with them really well. It was upsetting and emotional but on the other hand it was fabulous!

I loved this book as it has lots of mysterious happenings. Is everything that Aunt says is true?

One of my favourite characters in this story is Aarti’s (the main character)pet fox Chand. I strongly recommend it to anyone who likes a good quality book!

This book was fiction and definitely one of my favourite books ever my favourite character is Aarti since she is so independent and cool and I really liked the huge plop twist when the boy who helped out turned out to not even be alive the whole time he was just a spirit! Super interesting book I would definitely read it again and again and again!

It was fiction and my favourite character was Aarti because she was the main character and she's my role model she's so independent and so cool I just love her character. It was so interesting and so magical it was like I was their. This is now my favourite book and I can't stop thinking about it since I loved it so much. I also loved the huge plop twist near the end of the book turns out the boy she who had been helping her is not real and it was just a his spirit that helped her which is really shocking but so interesting and at the end of the book you get to find out about the new family member in her fox friend's family and how when she got back at the island she say a mini fox just like Chand with the same crescent moon on it's forehead.
